What is aloe vera?
Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis) is a succulent plant whose thick leaves hold a clear, water-rich gel. In skincare it is used as leaf juice or extract. The gel is mostly water, with polysaccharides, vitamins, amino acids and minerals.
Aloe has been valued for skin comfort across many cultures, and today it is one of the most widely used botanicals in skincare. The leaf juice and extract used in MEG 21 formulas are a gentle, water-light ingredient that blends easily into both rich creams and fluid sunscreens.
What it does for skin
Aloe helps hydrate skin, helps soothe the feeling of dryness and tightness, and helps skin look calm. Its light texture also makes richer creams feel fresher on skin.
How it works
Aloe’s polysaccharides are natural humectants that help draw and hold water in the outer layers of skin, a little like a botanical cousin of hyaluronic acid. Its other natural compounds are associated with comfort and calm, which is why aloe has long been a go-to after sun.
Why MEG 21 uses it
Aloe vera is in four MEG 21 formulas: Smooth Radiance Face Treatment, Décolleté Treatment, Bright & Firm Eye Treatment and Daily Mineral Shield SPF 30. It adds soothing hydration alongside glycerin and hyaluronic acid, and keeps skin comfortable while Supplamine® helps interrupt glycation and peptides and bakuchiol help smooth.
How to use it in your routine
Aloe comes built into four MEG 21 formulas, so it supports your routine whichever treatments you use. It is especially comforting on the neck and chest with Décolleté Treatment, and under sunscreen with Daily Mineral Shield SPF 30.
Who is it for?
Aloe vera suits every skin type, including sensitive, dry and dehydrated skin. It is especially welcome on delicate areas like the eyes, neck and chest.
