What is Supplamine®?

Supplamine® is a patented skincare complex developed by Dr. Annette Tobia, PhD, the scientist behind MEG 21. Supplamine® works as one complex, and it is the signature technology in every MEG 21 treatment: Advanced Defense Serum, Smooth Radiance Face Treatment, Décolleté Treatment and Bright & Firm Eye Treatment.

MEG 21 treatments are dispensed by physicians and dermatology practices, and Supplamine® is the reason the brand exists: a focused answer to one of the quieter drivers of visible skin aging.

What glycation does to skin

Glycation is a natural process in which sugars in the body react with proteins such as collagen and elastin. Along the way, highly reactive sugar by-products form. These by-products can attach to collagen fibres and lead to advanced glycation end products, or AGEs.

Collagen is long-lived, so these changes build up slowly. Over time, glycated collagen tends to become stiffer and less supple, which is linked with skin that looks less firm, less smooth and less radiant. Glycation works alongside UV exposure and oxidative stress, other key drivers of visible skin aging.

How Supplamine® works

Supplamine® is designed to target the reactive sugar by-products that form during glycation. By helping intercept them before they reach collagen, it helps interrupt the formation of AGEs and helps protect the collagen structure that keeps skin looking firm and smooth. Think of it as a shield for the fibres that hold skin up.
