What is niacinamide?
Niacinamide is a water-soluble form of vitamin B3. In skincare it is used as a fine white powder dissolved into the formula. It is stable, gentle and compatible with most other ingredients, which is why it appears in so many routines.
What niacinamide does for skin
Niacinamide helps even out the look of skin tone and dullness, helps support a smoother-looking texture, and helps strengthen the skin barrier so skin holds moisture better. Around the eyes, that means a brighter, more rested look.
How it works
Niacinamide is a precursor to molecules that skin cells use for energy and renewal. It supports the skin’s own production of barrier lipids, including ceramides, which helps skin hold water. It is also known to help reduce the transfer of pigment to the surface cells, which is how it helps skin tone look more even over time.
Because it supports several processes at once, niacinamide is a strong team player rather than a single-purpose active.
Why MEG 21 uses it
In Bright & Firm Eye Treatment, niacinamide works alongside licorice root extract and a vitamin C derivative to help brighten the look of the under-eye area, while caffeine helps it look refreshed and peptides and bakuchiol support smoothness. Supplamine® adds anti-glycation, helping protect collagen in skin that is naturally thin and delicate.
How to use it in your routine
Pat a small amount of Bright & Firm Eye Treatment around the eye area after cleansing and serum, using your ring finger and a light touch. Niacinamide plays well with other ingredients, including vitamin C, peptides and retinol alternatives. In the morning, follow with Daily Mineral Shield SPF 30, since even-looking tone depends on daily sun protection.
Who is it for?
Niacinamide suits most skin types, including sensitive skin. It is a good choice if you notice dullness, uneven-looking tone, dark-looking under-eyes or a dry, stressed barrier.
